With over 15 years of experience as an osteopath, I offer individual treatment for adults with pain, discomfort or restricted movement. How osteopathy can help

Osteopathy is a gentle, holistic form of therapy that helps relieve pain and activate the body's self-healing abilities. Restrictions and acute pain can be resolved effectively and with lasting results within a short time. Treatment also takes account of everyday factors such as stress, work, sport and sleep.

People come to my practice with symptoms such as:
  • • Neck and back pain
  • • Strains and acute lower back pain
  • • Slipped discs
  • • Migraine / headaches
  • • Digestive problems
  • • Dizziness or tinnitus
The aim of osteopathy is to resolve these symptoms, restrictions, pain and limitations in the body quickly and effectively, restoring overall mobility.

My approach

Your first appointment begins with an individual assessment of your symptoms and the factors contributing to pain or stress. We discuss your medical history and current concerns to build a clear picture before treatment. Together, we develop an osteopathic approach to help relieve your symptoms and support you in everyday life.
I then draw on the different areas of osteopathy to investigate the possible cause of your pain and guide treatment. The aim is to support your body's ability to adapt and its self-healing abilities by addressing the underlying dysfunctions.

As an experienced osteopath in Munich, I always trace symptoms back to causes that can only be identified through a holistic approach to the body. Both acute and chronic symptoms affecting, for example, the spine, muscles or organs can be relieved quickly and in the long term.

Osteopathy with Christian Weidl

Osteopathy focuses on the body as a whole, rather than on treating individual symptoms. My approach is therefore to treat people, rather than diseases.
I have over 15 years of experience in osteopathy & acupuncture in Munich. I am also a member of the Verband freier Osteopathen. Find out more about me.
In addition to osteopathic treatment for adults, I also offer osteopathy for children & babies and sports osteopathy. As part of a holistic approach to therapy, I also recommend combining osteopathy with acupuncture where appropriate. What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a natural, holistic form of therapy based on manual treatment of the body. Its focus is on restoring and maintaining overall health by treating the musculoskeletal system and other structures of the body. Osteopathy dates back to the late 19th century, when the American physician Andrew Taylor Still founded this new form of therapy. He recognised that many illnesses could be traced to restricted mobility in the joints and muscles. Manual techniques could resolve these restrictions and activate the body's own healing abilities.
The three central pillars of osteopathy are:
  1. 1. Structural osteopathy treats tense muscles, restricted joints & stiffened fascia to help the body move more freely.
  2. 2. In visceral osteopathy we examine tension within the body and its organ systems to identify the influence of the organs on pain.
  3. 3. Craniosacral osteopathy examines the connection between the brain and spinal cord and brings body and mind into balance.

Fees and insurance

My qualifications meet the requirements for contributions towards osteopathy from German statutory health insurers. Do you have German statutory health insurance? Here you will find a list of health insurers that contribute towards some of the cost of osteopathic treatment at my practice. Check the conditions with your insurer before booking.
I charge for osteopathic services in accordance with the fee schedule for Heilpraktiker (German licensed non-medical practitioners), known as GebüH. A short treatment for acute symptoms costs 75 euros and is available only by prior agreement. A standard treatment costs 150 euros. If you have German private, supplementary or international health insurance, cover depends on your individual policy. Before booking, ask whether it covers osteopathy provided by a Heilpraktiker in Germany, whether a referral or prior authorisation is required, and which invoices or other documents you need to submit. You are welcome to contact me with questions about the treatment fee.

Frequently asked questions

When is osteopathy useful?

If you have symptoms affecting the musculoskeletal or nervous system, such as pain, impaired muscle and joint function, bruising or sprains, osteopathy can be an effective form of treatment. Osteopathic therapy can also relieve symptoms associated with poor posture, muscle tension, emotional stress or headaches.

How many osteopathic sessions will I need?

Usually, 1–4 treatments are needed to resolve symptoms and achieve a lasting effect. However, longstanding or chronic symptoms may require further sessions. Please note that individual differences in symptoms and dysfunctions mean that the exact number of treatments cannot be predicted. We recommend regular osteopathic treatment to relieve symptoms in the long term and activate the body's self-healing abilities.

How much does osteopathy cost in Munich?

A detailed medical history, including a physical examination and treatment using a range of osteopathic techniques, costs between 75 and 150 euros per session, depending on the work involved.

What can an osteopath identify?

An osteopath can identify and treat a wide range of symptoms. These include musculoskeletal problems, restricted movement and joint restrictions, back problems, shoulder pain, headaches, dizziness and balance disorders. Disorders of the peripheral nervous system and digestive system, as well as certain gynaecological conditions, can also be identified. An osteopath can also help prepare for birth and provide postnatal support for mother and baby. Osteopathy can also support children and babies with developmental delays, as well as people recovering from accidents and sports injuries. Respiratory conditions and impaired lung function can also be identified and treated. An osteopathic session can also be suitable as a preventive measure.
