Osteopathy for babies and children in Munich

I offer gentle osteopathic treatment for newborns, babies and children at my Munich practice. With over 15 years of experience, I take time to understand your child's symptoms and build trust before treatment. I speak fluent English, so we can discuss your child's development, your concerns and the treatment in English or German.

A gentle approach to paediatric osteopathy

I treat babies, toddlers and children of all ages with a careful and gentle approach. My focus is on improving your child's movement, bodily function and health by releasing restrictions in the body's tissues and structures. Treatment is gentle, pain-free and takes the whole child into account.

The aim of a paediatric osteopathy session is to improve your child's mobility, bodily function and health by releasing restrictions in the body's tissues and structures.

Why choose osteopathy for your child?

For babies & children in particular, osteopathic treatment can complement conventional medicine very well. Many postural problems, impairments affecting the organs, misalignments of the spine & joints, or restrictions in spinal joints can develop during birth. Early diagnosis and treatment can help gently reposition bones and organs to release existing tension and prevent the development of problems later on.

Which symptoms are treated?

Paediatric osteopathy can offer lasting results, particularly if your child has one or more of the following symptoms:
  • • Postural problems
  • • Digestive problems
  • • Sleep problems
  • • Crying
  • • Wind, spitting up, burping
  • • Jaw misalignment
  • • Difficulty concentrating
  • • Holding the head to one side
  • • Overextension of the head
  • • Emotional trauma
In many cases, osteopathic treatment tailored to children, babies and infants can support your child's development, restore ease of movement and help prevent illness.

What happens during a child’s appointment?

With babies and toddlers, I first take time to build a connection. I treat young children on their mother's or father's lap, rather than alone on the treatment couch. Children need a different approach from adults, with communication and treatment adapted to them. Only with trust can treatment be meaningful & effective. Once that is established, progress is often remarkably quick. This is always a wonderful experience for the children, their parents and me.

When might you consider paediatric osteopathy?

Paediatric osteopathy may be considered when your child has physical dysfunctions, tension, pain or other health problems that conventional medical treatment alone has not resolved. Osteopathy is a gentle, natural method without side effects, making it a good option for children who cannot or should not take medication.

As an experienced paediatric osteopath in Munich, I treat your child gently and without pain. I address all your child's symptoms and concerns to provide effective, professional treatment. Taking a careful, holistic medical history and allowing plenty of time for you and your child are an essential part of my approach. Thanks to my many years of experience in my practice and in teaching, you and your child can trust in successful osteopathic treatment. Before treating babies & toddlers, it is important to build a connection with them. As a father and teacher of pupils in school years 1–12, I have learned a great deal about children and understand that they need to be approached and spoken to differently from adults. Trust is essential for effective treatment. It is also the basis of child-centred osteopathy, in which I work closely with you as parents to meet your child's individual needs.
It is always remarkable how quickly osteopathy works in children! If you are looking for treatment tailored to your individual concerns and drawing on different approaches to osteopathy or acupuncture, I am the right person to contact.
I will be happy to answer any questions during a free initial consultation. You are welcome to call me or send me an email at any time.

Fees and insurance

My qualifications meet the requirements for contributions towards osteopathy from German statutory health insurers. Which health insurers cover osteopathy for children? Here you will find a list of health insurers that contribute towards part of the cost of osteopathic treatment. Ask your insurer which conditions apply to your child before booking.
I charge for osteopathic services in accordance with the fee schedule for Heilpraktiker (German licensed non-medical practitioners), known as GebüH. Depending on its duration, an osteopathic session for children & babies costs between 75 and 150 euros. Standard treatments cost 150 euros, while short treatments for acute symptoms cost 75 euros in exceptional cases, by prior agreement. If your child has German private, supplementary or international health insurance, check the individual policy before booking. Ask whether it covers osteopathy for your child provided by a Heilpraktiker in Germany, whether a referral or prior authorisation is required, and which invoices or other documents you need to submit. You are welcome to contact me with questions about the treatment fee.

Frequently asked questions

How is osteopathy adapted for babies and children?

Treating babies and children follows the same underlying principles as osteopathy in general. Individual manual techniques are adapted to assess and treat the tissues and body structures as they grow. A precise understanding of the different phases and stages of development is essential for an accurate assessment. Knowledge of normal sensory, emotional and neurological development, as well as childhood-specific conditions, is needed to treat a child appropriately. For this reason, specialist training in paediatric osteopathy beyond the general study of osteopathy is essential when treating children. As young children cannot tell us in words where their problems are, a careful examination of the whole body during osteopathic treatment offers valuable additional help in assessing their condition. Drawing on this knowledge, I use very gentle techniques during treatment to help the child relax physically and emotionally.

How much does osteopathy for children cost?

A detailed medical history, including a physical check-up and treatment using a range of osteopathic techniques, costs between 75 and 150 euros per session, depending on the work involved.
